Can you make RSO or FECO with ExtractCraft Equipment?
Yes, you can absolutely make the highest quality RSO or FECO with our equipment. In fact, it’s one of the easiest products to make. It can be as simple as soaking your plant material in 190 proof or higher, non-denatured ethanol, letting it sit for 30 minutes or so, filtering out the plant material, then running this in our equipment until the ethanol has evaporated out and you are left with an oil. You would then decarb the oil after, and there’s your RSO / FECO. You could also decarb the plant material first instead, either way is great! For best results, freeze both your ethanol and plant material, while still separate, for 24 hours before combining them. This will limit the amount of chlorophyll that gets picked up and give you a more potent end product.

How much oil will I get out of a run in the Source Turbo?
The amount of oil you get from your plant material is referred to as your “yield”, and yield is typically discussed in terms of a percentage of your starting material’s weight that you get back as oil. The yield you get can vary dramatically depending on many factors. The main factor is the type of plant material you are extracting from, and the quality of it. Other factors include your wash time, filtration, temperature and other factors as well. When discussing cannabis and hemp, yields can typically vary between 10% to 25% of the starting weight of the material. This means from an ounce of high quality cannabis flower, the amount of oil back could be between 2.8 to to 7 grams. As noted, this can vary based on many factors so this amount of oil back cannot be guaranteed. It will be lower yields if using shake or trim.

Can you make dabs with ExtractCraft Equipment?
Yes, you can make some of the best dabs possible with our equipment. First, freeze your plant material and ethanol, while still separate, for at least 24 hours as a preparation step. Next, combine your 190 proof or higher, non-denatured ethanol and plant material, give the jar a little swirl, and put it back into the freezer for 1 to 10 minutes. After that, take it out of the freezer and filter out the plant material, ideally with a buchner funnel set (sold on extractcraft.com). Run the filtered solution through our equipment until the ethanol has been evaporated off and collected for reuse. Pour the oil out onto one of our non-stick silicone mats. Let it sit out for a couple days as the little remaining ethanol evaporates out. And that’s it, you’ll have full spectrum, high potency, terpene rich dabs ready for smoking.

Can you make vape carts with ExtractCraft Equipment?
Certainly, and many of our users do. Follow the same steps to make high quality dabs. Then perform a “partial decarb” on the oil. From there, if your material was very terpene rich, it is likely able to be added to carts as is using a syringe or other cartridge filling device. To increase the viscosity and make it easier to get into carts, you can add plant- derived terpenes to your oil. This will make it more liquidy and easier to load into carts. Follow the instructions on the terpene providers website to know just how much terpenes to add. But in general, you use a very small amount.

What’s the difference between ExtractCraft equipment and a Rosin Press?
Ethanol based extraction will allow you to create a more pure, cleaner, and stronger oil than a Rosin Press and with less waste. When using a Rosin Press, your resulting oil will have a high amount of fats and waxes in it, lowering the strength of your oil and making it less pure. With ethanol extraction and utilizing cold temperatures, we are able to heavily limit the amount of fats, waxes and chlorophyll that gets into our oil, giving us a cleaner and stronger end product.

When Rosin Pressing, you have chips left behind that still have oil in them and would otherwise be wasted. You are able to soak those in ethanol, filter out the plant material, then run that solution in our equipment to get that oil that otherwise would have been wasted. Many get our equipment to do that, then end up just going with ethanol extraction the whole way and discarding their press. As well, some use the process of “winterization” to remove the fats and waxes from their Rosin. This involves them dissolving the Rosin into ethanol, bringing it to low temperatures, filtering the solution to remove the fats, then evaporating the ethanol to have their oil cleaned up. It would be more efficient to just skip the Rosin Pressing altogether and perform ethanol based extraction instead.
